afternoon de-light

July 16th, 2008

Afternoon tea is a quintessentially British occasion and ever popular in London’s five star hotels. Starting July 31, 2008, join one of London’s hipper hotel counterparts for a new take on that storied tradition, with the ‘Afternoon De-Light’ at The Metropolitan London‘s uber-chic Met Bar.

The menu includes tastier, healthier alternatives to everything you would expect to see on an afternoon tea menu – scones, cakes, and pastries. There are even options for wheat-intolerant guests, like the “no-bread sandwiches pots”which include all the fillings but not the bread.

The beverages also have a clever twist, as tea infusions can be served straight, or over ice and alcohol to create the perfect martini (for example, the Ultimate Iced Tea, with Earl Grey, organic honey and cucumber, fresh squeezed lemon juice, and London gin). The new Eco-Tinis source all ingredients from the Greater London region – including gooseberries from the Met Bar manager’s garden, no less!
