white night

September 29th, 2010

Celebrate “Nuit Blanche,” or, White Night, in Paris on Saturday. The 9th annual all-night contemporary art festival will feature artists from around the globe with three main locations in the city: the Trocadero and Alma area; the Marais, Île St.-Louis and Île de la Cité; and Belleville and Oberkampf. (The charming hotel on the Place des Vosges, Pavillon de la Reine, is a great jumping off point for the installations in the Marais and the Îles.) Over 150 art projects will cover the city, including a fantastical projection on the Hôtel de Ville by Michelangelo Pistoletto and a Dance performance in the courtyard of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts inspired by famed smooches in the history of art…Klimpt, Munch, Rodin, Koons…

Anantara Hua Hin Spa Double Massage Room

We are pleased to report that the Anantara Spa at Anantara Hua Hin Resort took home the gold for an Outstanding Performance this week at the 8th annual Thailand Tourism Awards.  Situated along the Gulf of Thailand, the Hua Hin region first came on the scene as in the 1920’s as a royal retreat and its early glamour is still evident today. An exclusive group of Bangkok residents have second homes along the coast as a quick city escape (think of it as the Hamptons of Thailand).

If a luxury spa retreat sounds enticing, the Anantara Spa should not be overlooked. Treatments combined ancient Eastern healing traditions fused with contemporary holistic therapies designed to address full body, mind, and soul healing and total relaxation. For instance, the Hua Hin Signature Journey includes a floral foot ritual, turmeric scrub, shower, and sand compress massage. Plan a visit and see for yourself just what all the fuss is about – it won’t disappoint!

Colors of the North: Portraits of the Golden Triangle

In remote and barely accessible regions of Thailand, Laos, Burma, and China, indigenous peoples have been living without the influence of microwavable dinners, iPods, and cell phones for millennia, instead perpetuating a simpler way of life with traditions and ancient practices rooted in their cultures for thousands of years.  With the tick of the clock, these tribes are slowly disappearing and their rich oral histories and veritable life knowledge is slipping by the wayside. later gator-ade

September 23rd, 2010

We all know Gatorade is there for replenishing electrolytes, but it’s also filled with some shady ingredients like yellow 5. To replace nutrients we lose while working out, COMO Shambhala has come up with a special “Electrolyte Lemonade.” Parrot Cay recommends a shot of this magic juice after yoga workouts. The salt replenishes the body’s natural cooling system, ginger soothes digestion, and flaxseed feeds the body with those vital Omega-3 fatty acids. Lucky for us, Executive Chef Daniel Moran is sharing his recipe, so we don’t have to settle for Red 3.
